Pray 130 - May 21-26, 2012

City Church holds 130 Hours of Prayer during one week of most months. We offer one-hour prayer slots in our Prayer Room (located in the balcony of the sanctuary).  We want to contend for more of God -- to unashamedly knock, seek, and ask for more -- for ourselves, for our families, for this church body, for our city, our nation, and beyond. We want God's will to be done in our day.

Upcoming 130 Hours of Prayer:
Monday, May 21, 8:00 a.m. to Saturday, May 26, 6:00 p.m.

We're asking men to cover the night watch - midnight to 6:00 a.m.(women are not excluded from these hours). Please pick up information on how to enter and exit the building on Sunday morning at the Prayer Sign Up Table or online (see link below).

Corporate Worship & Prayer during the 130 Hours

Monday Night (Youth Center), Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (in Sanctuary).  We're not meeting on Wednesday due to Connect Groups. Everyone is welcome to join together for worship and prayer -- 5:30-6:15 p.m. is devotional worship, and 6:30-8:00 p.m. is a time of corporate worship and prayer.

Current Prophetic Prayer Focus:

FALLOW GROUND - PREPARATION & REPURPOSING

Hosea 10:12
“Sow with a view to righteousness, Reap in accordance with kindness;
Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD
Until He comes to rain righteousness on you.”

• Sow with a view to righteousness - set our eyes on a goal
• Reap in accordance to kindness - God's goodness and His character support His work
• Break up the fallow ground - preparation to bring about a new work, repurposing
• For it is time to seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on you - our position because of His righteousness

Verses from Haggai 1 & 2 – Refocus

1:9 My house lies in ruins while each of you run to your own house
1:12 …the people showed reverence for the Lord
1:13 "I am with you," declares the Lord

2:4 "take courage...take courage...take courage...and work! For I am with you" says the Lord of hosts.
2:5 "My Spirit stands and abides in the midst of you; fear not"
2:9 The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former.

A Prayer for City Church

In September of 2011, the staff and elders of City Church felt lead by God to craft a prayer for the church. We invite you to join us in praying this prayer for City Church.

Heavenly Father,

You alone are God, and the depths of the universe cannot contain Your majesty. Your goodness astounds us, Your grace amazes us, and Your unfailing love abounds. We acknowledge that we do not know the way to the place You are leading us, but trust that You will guide us. You take delight in everything You create, and we know that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in City Church.

In light of this, we humble ourselves before You, and we thank You for all that You are and all that You have done for us. We give You everything, Father, and we simply ask for more of You because we want to know You and love You more. We no longer trust in what we can do in our own strength but rather in who we are in You, and what You can do through us. We submit our lives, our wills and our plans to You. Help us to be a people that delight in You and walk in the fear of the Lord. As we set our hearts and fix our eyes on You, help us to demonstrate our love for You by our joyful obedience.

Lord, in Your mercy, keep us from relying on our own wisdom, our religious traditions or past experiences. We ask You to have the freedom to do in our midst what You desire. Make us a church that lives out Your word in heart and deed and truly reflects Your beauty and character. Make us a merciful and generous people who walk in Your redemptive ways. Increase our joy in Jesus Christ and help us to share it with others. Help us to have compassion for one another that there may be no needy among us and that we might be a refuge for those You send. Make us a place where people can taste and see that You are good, where all who come can find love and acceptance, and where people can hear and receive the transforming message of the gospel and become Your disciples.

Out of the fullness of who You are, we ask You to pour out Your Holy Spirit and move in power in our midst so that Your works spill over to all those You draw near. As we unashamedly worship You and preach Your word, rise up and confirm the truth of Your Kingdom with signs and wonders. Save the lost, heal the sick, bind up the brokenhearted and deliver the oppressed in our midst so that every eye would be on Jesus and He would receive the reward of His suffering. Enlarge our hearts to receive and embrace the poor, the lost and the difficult.

Please give us wisdom and understanding to be a faithful beacon of Your light and a conductor of Your presence in this region. Lord, just as You have made us one body, use City Church as a catalyst to bring the unity and revival You desire. Equip us with Your power, wisdom and courage to fulfill every purpose You have for us here, and to the farthest parts of the world. May we bring You joy, glory and honor in all that we do.

Heavenly Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in City Church, this region, and beyond. We humbly ask in Jesus’ name.

Amen
